New Business Director – Justice division

Location : West Midlands

Salary : £80,000 - 90,000

An exciting opportunity for a New Business Director has become available in our Justice division. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end to end lifecycle of solutions focused bids, from concept through to mobilisation. 



To lead the New Business function within Ingeus Justice Services, including:

  • Taking forward the Justice Growth Strategy and its periodic review, including planning and market analysis to inform strategic decision making in the Justice business
  • To lead the identification, evaluation and bidding of new business opportunities in the Justice and adjacent sectors
  • To lead and/or undertake service design for new contract opportunities and organic growth
  • To support the transition of newly awarded contracts into successful mobilisation
  • To be a collaborative and pro-active member of the Justice SLT, building New Business capability and contributing to the effective management of the Justice Pillar


Growth Strategy

  • Lead the strategic planning for Justice growth including existing and new markets, helping to inform Executive decision making in relation to future opportunities
  • Establishing and maintaining strong and respected relationships with key customers/commissioners including Senior MoJ officials, Regional Probation and Prison personnel, PCCs and related commissioners e.g. Health, Youth, Social Services
  • Manage and maintain a pipeline of new business opportunities aligned to the growth strategy and Ingeus revenue expectations


New Business

  • Assembling and leading cross-team/functional teams to successfully deliver large scale bids, including effectively managing budgets/resourcing, leading bid production and ensuring strong SDMs, commercial models and supply chains
  • Actively scaling bid effort including personal production where necessary of key bid elements including SDM, commercial approach (including required returns) and written responses. Pro-actively managing bid governance to ensure fully informed Executive decision making
  • Building highly functional and respected strategic partnerships including subcontractors, VCS, academic institutions
  • Building respected and influential relationships with key stakeholders including MoJ, Regional NPS, PCCs, Prisons and major other players in the justice market
  • Collaborating across Ingeus, including the Ingeus NBT, to implement stakeholder management plans and communications
  • Developing the Ingeus Justice Brand identity to maximise market penetration and the diversification of Ingeus Justice business opportunities
  • Familiarising and understanding the current Ingeus Justice contracts and delivery, ensuring insight into opportunities for refining existing delivery models and on-selling existing business


 Experience and Characteristics

  • Significant experience of working in the justice sector, preferably including both operations and business development; an advantage to have prior knowledge of the probation/prisons sector and established relationships with officials and commissioners
  • Experience of successful delivery of significant (justice) bids, including adapting to the demands for personal delivery of key elements as required (design, writing, commercial options, supply chain building)
  • Experience of successfully co-ordinating and leading cross-functional teams to deliver bids
  • Experience of maintaining successful relationships with senior HMG officials
  • A motivated self-starter with values aligned to those of Ingeus
