PW Advisor – Yorkshire & Humberside

PW Advisors will hold the professional relationship with the Probation practitioner to support Service Users to improve their personal wellbeing.


  • Maintain operational relationships with local Probation staff to manage casework requirements.
  • Proactively manage a caseload of Service Users in line with the information contained within the Referral provided by the Responsible Officer.
  • Support and move Service Users in addressing their assessed needs in line with the Service delivery model
  • Conduct an assessment with all referred Service Users to determine the appropriate level of support required to address their needs.
  • Prepare and agree individual action plans with the Service User.
  • Provide intensive support to all Service Users on a one-to-one basis and in group settings dependent on the needs identified by the assessment.
  • Bespoke casework to meet individual needs.
  • Deliver Intervention Modules (1-2-1 and Group) including advocacy with external statutory / VCS bodies/ wellbeing providers & complementary services.
  • Motivate and promote a Service User’s belief in their ability to change.
  • Refer Service Users to complementary agencies as required and liaise with those specialists in order to monitor progress made.

  • Work with Service Users of varying complexity of need and across each Complexity Level (as applicable)
  • Provide advice on disclosure of offence(s) to potential employers and opportunity providers on the Rehabilitation of Offender Act 1974, relevant amendments and other relevant legislation.
  • Be Alert and responsive to behaviour, information or changes which could indicate a change in Risk of Serious Harm
  • Respond appropriately to challenging behaviour (including Unacceptable Behaviour) in order to de-escalate tension, enable Service User to manage strong feelings and to ensure their own safety and that of others.
  • Achieve outcomes in accordance with contractual KPIs and the Performance Management Framework.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the PW service.
  • Use digital technology with Service Users.
  • Use digital systems to complete, maintain and review Service User’s Action Plans, record all activity and share information appropriately with the Customer.
  • Deliver PW services across probation offices, Ingeus offices or other co-located environments to meet local or regional demands.
  • Contribute to relevant meetings and case conferences.
  • Ensure that the Health and Safety needs of individuals and groups are appropriately met.
  • Understand and follow policies and procedures appropriate to both the Ingeus and to the probation sector.
